PROVIDING FEMININE HYGIENE SUPPLIES
PADS, TAMPONS AND ESSENTIALS
FOR HOMELESS WOMEN AND WOMEN IN NEED
We have a simple request, watch this video. It is the catalyst for The Kindred Project. Once you've had a chance to see what life is like for homeless women during their period, decide for yourself if you are able to assist.
When we talked about what we could do to help, we thought about a GoFundMe project, but we knew it would be a short term solution to a long term problem that would always exist.
We started to look at what groups were doing in other cities. There are some amazing projects going on in Australia, the US and many other countries. We decided that we would take their lead and try to do something that was long term and sustainable for the Winnipeg region.
Although there are many needs that we could attempt to address, we decided to keep our mission simple:
To provide feminine hygiene products to people in need.
We will do this by working with partners, distributors, volunteers and donors to collect feminine hygiene products. Then prepare pre-made Period Packs and get them into the hands of the women who most need them.
HOW IT WORKS
We will provide Period Packs to homeless and underprivileged women living in and around Winnipeg. They will be distributed through organizations that work with women in need.
These packs will come in 4 different varieties and each will have extras such as feminine/baby wipes, new or disposable underwear.
- RED PACK will have 15 tampons,10 pads + extras.
- BLUE PACK will have a mix of pads only + extras
- YELLOW PACK will have a mix of tampons only + extras
- GREEN PACK - is for Transmen. It will be personalized + extras
*The Kindred Project would like to acknowledge Transgender males who are also in need of sanitary products. Our use of feminine pronouns and terminology is in no way meant to exclude these individuals.
